Mirzapur The Movie : Release Date, Cast, Trailer & Everything You Need to Know

Mirzapur The Movie is the highly anticipated big-screen expansion of Amazon Prime Video’s iconic crime saga. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, this action crime thriller brings the brutal world of power, revenge, and “bhaukaal” from the streaming series to theatres.

Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment in association with Amazon MGM Studios, Mirzapur The Movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 4 September 2026 in Hindi and Telugu.

The Story Behind Mirzapur The Movie

The film is set in 2018 and explores an untold chapter from the timeline of the original series’ first season. It expands the familiar universe of Mirzapur’s underworld — the carpet empire that masks gun-running and other illegal trades, the constant struggle for the throne (gaddi), and the complex father-son dynamics that define the franchise.

Fans will see the return of core characters alongside new threats. The battle for control of Mirzapur intensifies with higher stakes, larger-scale action, and the franchise’s signature mix of dark humour, sharp dialogues, and unrelenting violence.

Cast of Mirzapur The Movie

Mirzapur The Movie reunites much of the beloved ensemble:

• Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand “Kaleen” Tripathi (Kaleen Bhaiya)

• Ali Fazal as Govind “Guddu” Pandit

• Divyenndu as Phoolchand “Munna” Tripathi

• Jitendra Kumar as Vinay “Bablu” Pandit (taking over the role previously played by Vikrant Massey)

• Ravi Kishan as a new menacing antagonist eyeing the throne

• Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi

• Shweta Tripathi as Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta

• Shriya Pilgaonkar as Swaragini “Sweety” Gupta

• Harshita Gaur as Dimpy Pandit

• Supporting cast includes Abhishek Banerjee, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, Sonal Chauhan, and others.

The casting choices, especially Jitendra Kumar as Bablu and Ravi Kishan as a fresh rival, have generated significant buzz among fans.

Production and Marketing

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh (who worked on the series), the film was written by series co-creator Puneet Krishna. Cinematography is by Sanjay Kapoor, with editing by Manan Ashwin Mehta. The score is by John Stewart Eduri, and the soundtrack includes the first released track “Do Numbari” by Dhanda Nyoliwala.

Marketing has been strong. Character posters, a teaser (released in June 2026), and the official trailer (unveiled in August 2026) showcase the high-octane action, intense confrontations, and the familiar gritty atmosphere of Purvanchal, with some sequences expanding the visual scale.
