The Indian film industry is gearing up for a unique cinematic experience with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Directed by Santosh Singh and produced by Zee Studios and Mini Films, this film promises to weave a poignant narrative inspired by Ruskin Bond’s timeless short story, The Eyes Have It. With a fresh pairing of Vikrant Massey and debutante Shanaya Kapoor, the movie is already generating buzz for its soulful storytelling and evocative music. Here’s a closer look at what makes this film a must-watch.
A Story Rooted in Emotion
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan centers on Jahaan, a visually impaired musician played by Vikrant Massey, and Saba, a theater artist portrayed by Shanaya Kapoor. Their paths cross during a train journey, sparking a delicate yet profound romance. The film explores the nuances of love, perception, and human connection, particularly through the lens of two characters who experience the world differently due to their visual impairment. Adapted from Ruskin Bond’s classic tale, the story delves into modern relationships, blending emotional depth with moments of lighthearted charm.
The screenplay, crafted by Mansi Bagla, Niranjan Iyengar, and Santosh Singh, retains the essence of Bond’s story while infusing it with contemporary sensibilities. The narrative is expected to resonate with audiences through its focus on vulnerability, trust, and the beauty of finding love in unexpected places.
Stellar Cast and Crew
Vikrant Massey, known for his versatile performances in films like 12th Fail and Haseen Dillruba, steps into the role of Jahaan with his trademark intensity and sensitivity. His ability to portray complex emotions makes him a perfect fit for a character navigating love and life’s challenges. Shanaya Kapoor, making her Bollywood debut, brings a fresh energy to Saba. Early glimpses from the trailer suggest she holds her own alongside Massey, with a natural charm that complements the film’s emotional tone. Zain Khan Durrani rounds out the cast in a pivotal supporting role, adding depth to the story.
Director Santosh Singh, who previously helmed Satyaprem Ki Katha, brings his knack for crafting heartfelt narratives to this project. The film is produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla under Mini Films, in collaboration with Zee Studios, ensuring a polished production that balances artistry with commercial appeal.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan : A Musical Journey
The film’s music, composed by Vishal Mishra, is already stealing hearts. The soundtrack captures the emotional core of the story, with lyrics penned by Vishal Mishra and Kaushal Kishore. Two singles have been released so far: “Nazara,” a soulful track dropped on June 11, 2025, and the title song, “Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan,” released on June 21, 2025. Both tracks have been praised for their lyrical beauty and melodic richness, setting the tone for the film’s romantic and introspective vibe. The title track, in particular, has struck a chord with listeners, evoking nostalgia while feeling refreshingly modern.
