Apple has finally entered the smart display market with the Apple HomeView, a beautifully designed device that combines entertainment, communication, and smart home control in one elegant package. Announced on October 13, 2026, the Apple HomeView is set to become the centerpiece of modern Apple households. If you’ve been waiting for a true Apple-powered smart display that feels personal, private, and powerful, the Apple HomeView delivers exactly that.
What Is Apple HomeView?
The Apple HomeView is Apple’s first dedicated smart home display. It features a stunning 7-inch square Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 1088-by-1088 pixels at 220 ppi. The screen supports True Tone and offers brightness ranging from an impressively low 0.3 nits (perfect for bedrooms at night) up to 500 nits.
Two versions are available, both priced at $299:
- Apple HomeView (tabletop): Comes with a domed speaker base connected by an adjustable stainless steel hinge. Available in Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink, and Space Gray.
- Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted): A slimmer design for permanent wall installation, available in Silver and Space Gray.
Powered by the A18 chip, the device runs specialized HomeView software rather than full iOS or iPadOS. It includes a 12MP Center Stage camera, four far-field microphones, high-quality speakers with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread connectivity.
Key Features That Make Apple HomeView Stand Out
Personalized Experience with Face Recognition
One of the standout features of the Apple HomeView is its ability to recognize up to six household members by face. When you approach the device, it automatically switches to your personalized view — showing your Messages, Calendar events, Reminders, FaceTime contacts, and Find My information. This makes the shared family device feel uniquely yours.
Siri AI Powered by Apple Intelligence
At the heart of the Apple HomeView is Siri AI, a significantly more capable and conversational version of Siri. It draws on broad world knowledge while also understanding personal context from your nearby iPhone or iPad. You can ask complex questions, get music recommendations, check flight details from messages, or control your smart home with natural language — all while keeping your data private.
Smart Home Control Hub
The Apple HomeView works as a powerful dashboard for Apple Home. Dedicated faces and widgets let you control lights, thermostats, locks, and scenes with a tap. You can view live feeds from up to nine HomeKit Secure Video cameras simultaneously and interact with nearby accessories directly from the camera view.
Entertainment and Communication
Enjoy rich audio for Apple Music, Podcasts, and multiroom AirPlay 5. The Center Stage camera makes FaceTime calls feel natural and centered. It also doubles as a beautiful digital photo frame with customizable faces that display photos, weather, clocks, calendars, or even playful Snoopy animations.
Privacy and Security First
Like all Apple products, the Apple HomeView is built with privacy at its core. Face recognition and personal data processing happen on-device where possible, and Apple Intelligence features are designed to protect user information.
Design and Everyday Use
The design of the Apple HomeView feels like a larger Apple Watch meets a mini iMac G4 aesthetic. The tabletop model’s tilting screen is ideal for kitchen counters, nightstands, or desks, while the wall-mounted version serves as an elegant always-on control panel. Customizable faces allow quick glances at important information from across the room, with more details appearing as you get closer.
It supports Intercom for whole-home communication and works seamlessly with the broader Apple ecosystem, including HomePod speakers and upcoming Apple Home Collection accessories from partners like LG and Schneider Electric.
Price, Availability, and Who Should Buy It
Both models of the Apple HomeView cost $299 in the United States. Pre-orders began on October 13, 2026, with availability starting November 13, 2026 (in select countries; note that it is not launching in the European Union initially due to Siri AI availability).
The Apple HomeView is ideal for Apple users who want a dedicated home hub that feels premium and deeply integrated. It can replace a HomePod for audio while adding visual control and personalization that previous devices lacked. Families will especially appreciate the multi-user recognition and shared-yet-private experience.
